Senior Research Scientist
Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity with Protein Discovery, Inc. a growing life sciences tools provider. The individual hired for this position will develop mass spectrometry based proteomics and small molecule applications utilizing the Company’s proprietary sample preparation devices and reagents. The qualified candidate will be a proteomics scientist with experience in the analysis of complex biological samples using multidimensional chromatography and mass spectrometry.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Implement both top-down and bottom-up proteomics platforms.
- Develop LC/MS applications that utilize the Company’s sample preparation products.
- Work both individually and with selected customers or collaborators to support applications.
- Maintain high level of professional expertise through current scientific literature analysis, competing product and technology research, and scientific seminar and meeting attendance.
- Communicate effectively the significance of new Company methodology through written reports, seminars and on-site training.
- Make contributions to expand the Company's technical capabilities.
Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
- Strong technical knowledge in all aspects of mass spectrometry application and research product development.
- Minimum of 3 years post degree lab experience, preferably in a commercial setting.
- Experience in maintenance, set-up and troubleshooting of ion trap and chromatography equipment.
- Proficiency in the use of basic biology techniques, laboratory equipment and materials.
- Experience in working within cGLP, and cGMP environments is preferred.
- Proven ability to concurrently work on multiple assignments and balance priorities.
- Multiple publications preferred.
- Must have hands-on experience in one or more of the following:
- Gel or capillary electrophoresis
- Development of quantitative LC/MS assays
- Nanobore chromatography
- MudPIT
- LC/MALDI
