Protein Discovery, Inc. Announces PPS Silent Surfactant Trial Program at the 55th ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, (MARKET WIRE) June 04, 2007—Protein Discovery, Inc., a provider of products and services for clinical mass spectrometry sample preparation, today announced the company's PPS Silent Surfactant Trial Program at the 55th ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry, held June 3 - June 7, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Trial Program is aimed at introducing mass spectrometry researchers to the benefits of using specialty surfactants to prepare samples for proteolytic digestion and mass spectrometry analysis. The PPS Silent Surfactant Trial program is a "summer special" which will remain active through August 30, 2007, and participants will receive two vials of PPS for the price of one. PPS Silent Surfactant is delivered in 1 mg and 10 mg vials. Program participants may order either vial size.

PPS Silent Surfactant is a topic of four scientific posters slated for presentation at the ASMS Conference by academic research groups that have evaluated the reagent's performance. PPS Silent Surfactant disrupts cell membranes, solubilizes hydrophobic proteins, and improves proteolytic digestion. The reagent hydrolyzes at low pH into soluble by-products with no residual detergent properties. Sample preparation of complex protein mixture digests using PPS Silent Surfactant improves mass spec signal intensity and increases the number of discrete peaks visible on mass spectra.

"Our market surveys tell us that most clinical mass spectrometry researchers have not yet tried a specialty surfactant," said Andrea Mravca, vice president of sales and marketing at Protein Discovery. "With the 2-for-1 PPS Trial Program, we want to provide the information and the material curious researchers need to experience the advantages. Our customers have been very pleased to find out that they can see high proteolytic digestion efficiencies and eliminate detergent interference without losing valuable membrane proteins."

The PPS Silent Surfactant Trial Program is reserved for subscribers to Protein Discovery's "Sample Prep" newsletter. Researchers can subscribe to Sample Prep by visiting exhibit space #39 at the 55th ASMS Conference, or by visiting the company's web site at www.proteindiscovery.com. Researchers can also receive a list of posters presenting the results of PPS Silent Surfactant evaluation by sending e-mail to andrea@proteindiscovery.com.
